This Cutlass kart (made in California, circa 1961) is just about the most extreme example of the seat forward configuration of any kart this author has seen. Note that the engine sits entirely in front of the rear axle and that the steering column is nearly vertical.
This forward configuration was actually more typical of mid-west produced karts such as the Evans [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.].
